Hello! I am Sarah Peacock Dorn and am proud to be a South Dakota girl once again after living in Iowa for nine years, where I started my family. My husband and I have two children, a boy and a girl. Like many women I wear many hats; shuttle driver, laundry fairy, chef, counselor, custodial engineer… I was happy in those roles, however; I felt a strong need for a creative outlet. I took a couple of jewelry classes and began giving the jewelry I created away as gifts. The response and encouragement prompted me to start my business. In 2010, I took the leap (with a 4-year-old daughter and 2-year-old son) from my living room/kitchen table/every-available-surface in my very small house, Mama Peacock was born. It only made sense to name my business, Mama Peacock, after my mom; my hero. Peacock is her last name, my maiden name; imagine growing up with that last name!

I am inspired by nature and love all things vintage and unique. I love the history and story behind vintage pieces; whether it's an old dresser or a beautiful broach. I love that the pieces have stood the test of time and are still here after many generations to enjoy and pass along. My jewelry and mixed media art is a combination of new and old, an expression of me; a modern girl with a vintage soul. Growing up I would steal my mom's vintage leather cuffs, purses and anything else that allowed me to express my individuality and tell my story.

Today, after a move closer to extended family, I’m in a slightly bigger house with my own (still small) room, thankfully with a door to hide my creative mess! The treasures I’ve collected surround and inspire me in my studio. I truly believe beauty radiates from the inside out. So thank you for buying a piece of Mama Peacock to decorate your beautiful self or home…Strut Your Stuff!!
